Hace 6 días · It's been said (via Britannica) that Möngke Khan, who ruled the empire from 1251 to 1259, was the last great khan to exercise uncontested rule over the whole of the Mongol Empire. Kublai Khan, his successor, was a capable warrior and statesman, and he did his grandfather one better on the Chinese front by bringing the southern Song dynasty under Mongol control .

The Mamluks of Egypt then sought, and were granted, permission to advance through Frankish territory, and defeated the Mongols at the Battle of Ain Jalut in September 1260.
