H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College, or Newcomb College, was the coordinate women's college of Tulane University located in New Orleans, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It was founded by Josephine Louise Newcomb in 1886 in memory of her daughter. Newcomb was the first women's coordinate college within a United States university.

In 1886, the H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College was established as Tulane’s co-ordinate college for women. More than 180 years later, Tulane University has become one of the most respected educational and research institutions in the country.
In 1886, the H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College for Women was established as part of Tulane. The university moved to its present campus on St. Charles Avenue in 1894, but medical school classes were held on the Uptown and Downtown campuses until the 1960s.
Josephine Louise Newcomb gave $100,000 (worth roughly $2.7 million today) to the Tulane Board of Administrators in memory of her daughter, Harriott Sophie Newcomb, who died of diphtheria at the age of fifteen. Mrs. Newcomb’s vision was to create a place that “would go on year by year doing good.
