  2. 14/07/2022 · The Fen Ditton estate descended jointly to Sir William Willys's six sisters, from whom it was bought by Sarah Churchill, duchess of Marlborough, for her daughter Henrietta Godolphin, the next duchess (d. 1733). (fn. 12) After Henrietta's death it was used as a marriage gift for her daughter Mary, who married in 1740 Thomas Osborne, duke of Leeds.

Bakewell, who according to Godolphin was urged on and financially supported by Coke, entered a petition in Chancery but the final outcome of the case is not known. Henrietta Churchill when her father was made a Scottish Lord of Parliament in 1682.

  6. 04/08/2022 · Sir Edmund Berry Godfrey in 1669 caused the king's physician, Sir Alexander Frasier, to be arrested for £30 due to him for firewood. Pepys states (fn. n21) that the bailiffs were whipped by the King's command, and that Godfrey hardly escaped the same punishment. He was, however, confined for a time in the Porter's Lodge at Whitehall. (fn. n22)
