Henry Fielding, né le 22 avril 1707 à Sharpham Park près de Glastonbury, dans le Somerset , et mort le 8 octobre 1754 à Lisbonne, est un dramaturge, poète, essayiste et romancier anglais. Fielding fréquente le Collège d'Eton puis l' université de Leyde aux Pays-Bas comme étudiant en lettres.

Fue hermano de la también escritora Sarah Fielding. Es considerado, junto a Samuel Richardson, como uno de los iniciadores de la novela inglesa.
