George Victor Robert John Innes-Ker was born on 7 September 1913 to Henry Innes-Ker, 8th Duke of Roxburghe (1876–1932) and Mary Goelet (1878–1937). He was born almost ten years after his parents were married, on 10 November 1903, [2]

Lady Victoria Alexandrina Innes-Ker (1877–1970), who married Charles Hyde Villiers (1862–1947) in 1901 and had issue. Lady Isabel Innes-Ker (1879–1905), who married the Hon. Guy Greville Wilson (1877–1943) in 1904.
He was the son of James Henry Robert Innes-Ker, 7th Duke of Roxburghe and Lady Anne Emily Spencer-Churchill, the fourth daughter of John Spencer-Churchill, 7th Duke of Marlborough, who served in Conservative governments as Lord President of the Council and Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and his wife, Lady Frances Vane, daughter of the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry.

Henry John Innes-Ker, 8th Duke of Roxburghe, KT, MVO (24 July 1876 – 29 September 1932) was a Scottish peer and courtier. He was the son of James Henry Robert Innes-Ker, 7th Duke of Roxburghe and Anne Emily Spencer-Churchill. His first cousin was Winston Churchill. Henry John, 8th Duke was succeeded in 1932 by his eldest son, George Victor Robert John Innes-Ker (1913-1974), 9th Duke of Roxburghe, educated at Sandhurst. Today the title is held by Guy David Innes-Ker (b. 1954), 10th Duke of Roxburghe, educated at Eton, Sandhurst, and Magdalene College, Cambridge.
