Henry Percy, 9th Earl of Northumberland, acquired Syon in 1594 through his marriage to Dorothy Devereux. Henry employed Thomas Percy as a rent-collector at Syon House. Thomas, the great-grandson of the 4th Earl of Northumberland, was very unscrupulous. He had 34 charges of dishonesty brought against him.
13 de jun. de 2018 · Henry Percy, 2nd Earl of Northumberland was born circa 1532.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Percy and Eleanor Harbottle.1,2 He married Katherine Neville, daughter of John Neville, 4th Lord Latymer and Lady Lucy Somerset, before 25 January 1561/62.3 He died on 21 June 1585, found dead in bed, shot through the heart with three bullets fired - the subsequent verdict was suicide.1
He came to England shortly after the Conquest, becoming an important Yorkshire baron before his death on the First Crusade.30 A member of the family represented Yorkshire in Parliament as early as 1297, and in 1377 Henry Percy, the father of Henry ‘Hotspur’, was made earl of Northumberland.
