  6. Henry Wellesley, 3rd Duke of Wellington, was a son of Lord Charles Wellesley and his wife, Augusta Sophia Anne Pierrepont, daughter of The Hon. Henry Pierrepont. He was a grandson of the 1st Duke of Wellington. He inherited the dukedom when in 1884 his uncle, the 2nd Duke of Wellington, died childless.
