Hermine David: A famous twentieth century French painter, printmaker and illustrator, Hermine David was among the first women to be accepted to study at the prestigious Ecole des Beaux Arts. Even more amazing was the fact that she began her formal studies at this school at the age of sixteen.

Biography. Hermine David (1886-1970), painter and printmaker, was born in Paris on April 19, 1886. She was the granddaughter of the French painter Jacques Louis David. At the age of sixteen she enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts and later studied at l’Académie Julian.
