Hertford’s close proximity to my beloved Duke Humphrey’s Library, the Old Congregation House café, and the King’s Arms, ensured a balance of work, rest and play. In the summer of 1998, when I awaited the outcome of my grant application to embark on my DPhil, I realised that I would have been devastated had I not continued with my studies here at Hertford.
When you arrive at Hertford College you will be met by our lovely, friendly Porters in the Porters’ Lodge. They will call our Welcome Ambassadors – Hertford undergraduates – who will show you to your room, take you out to a pizza dinner on your first or second night and generally be a guiding, friendly presence on your first days here.
