Highland Park College was a college located in Des Moines, Iowa. History. Founded by a local business syndicate, Highland Park opened its doors in 1890. At the time, Highland Park was an emerging northern suburb of the capital city.

An additional goal was to make college affordable for those with limited means. The 1916 Piper, the school yearbook, shows that under the aegis of Highland Park College were the “seven standard colleges”: engineering, liberal arts, music, oratory, pedagogy, business, and pharmacy.
Old Des Moines U. Second and Euclid is the home of Park Fair Mall, but it was once the site of an interesting piece of Des Moines educational history. Highland Park College, Des Moines University, and the University of Lawsonomy once stood on this spot.
