Holyhood Cemetery is best known for being the final resting place of Joseph and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy (parents of U.S. President John, U.S. Attorney General Robert, and U.S. Senator Edward). Their daughter, Rosemary Kennedy, is also buried here, along with several other family members.

Kenneth Patrick O'Donnell [1] (March 4, 1924 – September 9, 1977) was an American political consultant and the special assistant and appointments secretary to President John F. Kennedy from 1961 until Kennedy's assassination in November 1963. O'Donnell was a close friend of President Kennedy and his younger brother Robert F. Kennedy.
In 1888 the directors of the Holyhood Cemetery Association purchased land in West Roxbury to develop St. Joseph Cemetery. At about 200 acres (81 ha), St. Joseph is one of the largest cemeteries in New England. In 1950, the Directors of Holyhood 1950 opened a new section on VFW Parkway called St. James the Apostle.
At the time it was laid out in 1857, Holyhood Cemetery reflected the mid-19th century influence of romantic landscape cemetery planning begun at Cambridge’s Mt. Auburn Cemetery in the 1830s. It was the first such cemetery in Brookline.
Coordinates: 42°19′38″N 71°07′40″W. The Old Burying Ground, also known as Walnut Street Cemetery, was the first cemetery established in Brookline, Massachusetts, in 1717. It was the town's only cemetery for 140 years until the establishment of the Holyhood Cemetery in 1857, and the Walnut Hills Cemetery in 1875. [1] .
