Major Hon. Frederick Howard (6 December 1785 – 18 June 1815) was a British Army officer who fought in the Napoleonic Wars and was killed at the Battle of Waterloo. He is the "young, gallant Howard" mentioned in Lord Byron 's poem "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage". Biography.

Major Hon. Frederick Howard, 10 th Hussars. Buried in the mausoleum at Castle Howard, north of the A64 between York and Malton. The mausoleum can be viewed from the A64. Frederick Howard was born on 6 December 1785. 1 He was the son of Frederick Howard, 5th Earl of Carlisle and Lady Margaret Caroline Leveson-Gower. 2 He married Frances Susan Lambton, daughter of William Henry Lambton and Lady Anne Barbara Frances Villiers, on 6 August 1811. 1 He died on 18 June 1815 at age 29 at Waterloo, Belgium G, killed in action.
