23 de ago. de 2023 · Human Desire doesn’t particularly excel in any of the signature facets of the noir genre, but the tension between the characters’ selfish and animalistic acts is strongly potent throughout. And that is embodied by Grahame ’s movie-saving performance as the unreadable Vicki.

22 de ene. de 2020 · Human Desire is a 1954 black-and-white film noir directed by Fritz Lang and starring Glenn Ford, Gloria Grahame and Broderick Crawford. It is loosely based on Émile Zola's novel La Bête humaine. The story had been filmed twice before: La Bête humaine (1938) directed by Jean Renoir and Die Bestie im Menschen starring Ilka Grüning (1920).

Critics reviews. The Gloria Grahame-Glenn Ford pair star once again in this Fritz Lang feature, in which a Korean War veteran, rail worker Jeff, succumbs to the charm of an attractive woman suffering in thrall to a violent husband. So much that, in his desire to save her, he entertains thoughts of murdering him.

"Human Desire" is NOT one of Fritz Lang's masterpieces. Though it has its moments, it ultimately comes off as a second-rate work. A remake of Jean Renoir's 1938 "La bete Humaine" starring Jean Gabin, "Human Desire" is less successful than Renoir's adaptation of the Zola novel, but when all things considered, it is not bad, and is filled with some interesting geometric images & visuals.
