Betty Wright was an American soul singer who helped originate what became known as the Miami Sound – a blend of soul and funk with Caribbean influences – in the 70s. Her smash hit Clean Up Woman sold over six million copies worldwide and was, just months after Betty’s death in 2020, inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Danger High Voltage, Betty’s fourth album, is one of her most popular from the Alston/TK years. Released in June of 1974, Rolling Stone gave the album four out of four stars and said it was “a cross section of exuberant, varied dance songs and poignant ballads recorded during the peak of Miami soul.”
