Sir Richard de Brus (died 1287), Lord of Writtle was an English knight from Essex, commanding a Knight banneret for Edward I. He was a younger son of Robert de Brus, 5th Lord of Annandale and Isabella de Clare. Richard was a part of King Edward I of England’s household and may have been with Edward during his crusade.
Richard de Brus (died ca. 26 January 1287), unmarried and without issue. He married, secondly on 3 May 1275 at Hoddam , in the diocese of Glasgow , Christina (died ca. 1305 or 1305), daughter and heiress of Sir William de Ireby , of Ireby, Cumbria .

Biography. Richard had a grant of Writtle on yearly payment of a gold ring, value 2s., and a knight's fee or service. He died A.D. 1287, leaving a son, "Robert," whose widow, Alianore, survived him, and married, secondly, Richard de Walays, and died 5th Ed. III. Richard and his son were both signed with the X in 54th Henry III. (1270).

Robert I de Brus, 1st Lord of Annandale ( c. 1078 –1141) was an early-12th-century Anglo-Norman lord and the first of the Bruce dynasty to hold lands in Scotland.
