  5. James Walter Grimston, 1st Earl of Verulam (1775-1845) was the son of James Bucknall Grimston, 3rd Viscount Grimston and Harriot Walter. He married Lady Charlotte Jenkinson, daughter of Charles Jenkinson, 1st Earl of Liverpool and Catherine Bishopp, on 11 August 1807. He was created 1st Earl of Verulam. He died on 17 November 1845 at age 70.
