James Walter Grimston, 2nd Earl of Verulam (20 February 1809 – 27 July 1895), known as Viscount Grimston from 1815 to 1845, was a British peer and Conservative politician. He was the eldest son of James Walter Grimston, 1st Earl of Verulam, and Lady Charlotte Jenkinson.

Description. Photograph of a full length portrait of James Walter Grimston, 2nd Earl of Verulam (1809-95) standing, facing slightly towards the right. He gazes towards the right. He leans his left arm on a plinth. Grimston was Lord-in-Waiting from 1852 to 1853 and again from 1858 to 1859. Provenance. Acquired by Prince Albert. People involved.
James Grimston, 2nd Earl of Verulam was the impetus for many of our activities. He served as our President for almost half a century, the longest incumbent by many years. Besides giving the Society its strategic direction, he also preserved the site of Verulamium.
Biography. James Walter Grimston: Viscount Grimston from 1815 to 1845. Eldest son of James Walter Grimston, 1st Earl of Verulam, and Lady Charlotte Jenkinson.
