30 de abr. de 2024 · James Hoban is remembered as the designer and builder of the White House. He was born in County Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1755 and studied at the Dublin School of Architectural Drawing before immigrating to the new United States.

Hoban modeled the building on Leinster House in Dublin, a building which today houses the Oireachtas, the Irish legislature. Construction took place between 1792 and 1800, with an exterior of Aquia Creek sandstone painted white.
