Jane Cromwell was born on 2 January 1605, in Huntingdon, Huntingdonshire, England as the daughter of Robert Cromwell and Elizabeth Steward. She married Sir John Disbrowe on 23 June 1636, in Eltisley, Cambridgeshire, England, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 10 sons and 4 daughters.

Cromwell’s eldest sister was Joan, about whom little is known. Some sources, such as James Waylen, suggest that she died young, at around eight years old, though others claim that she survived into adulthood and married a William Baker in 1611.
