The second son of Owen Tudor, founder of the family’s fortunes, he was knighted in 1449 and created earl of Pembroke about 1452.

Jasper played a major role on behalf of the Lancastians in the Wars of the Roses and was with his nephew Henry Tudor in exile in Brittany.
