  4. Hace 6 días · The Cordeliers section, led by Georges-Jacques Danton, Jean- Paul Marat, and Camille Desmoulins, spearheaded democratic agitation in Paris in 1789–90. When the sections were created, the club soon dominated them. Women played a prominent role in the club.

  5. Hace 6 días · In April 1793, Girondins succeeded in having one of their most vocal critics, the Montagnard journalist Jean-Paul Marat arrested and sent before the Revolutionary Tribunal. Marat delivered a passionate defense and won acquittal, giving him even more prestige and influence and weakening the Girondins' hold on power further.
