The official scoring was 6-4 for Bivins 9-1 for Walcott, and 5-4-1 for Bivins but the official with that scorecard gave the decision to Walcott because of the knockdown.

  5. Born Arnold Cream in Merchantville, New Jersey, Walcott took the name of his boxing idol, Joe Walcott, the welterweight champion from Barbados. He turned pro in 1930 at the age of 16 and embarked on a slow, but steady, rise to the top. Walcott wound up a loser in his early bouts against world-class competition.

  6. Jersey Joe Walcott became the Heavyweight Champion of the World with a seventh-round knockout of Ezzard Charles on July 18, 1951. It was his fifth attempt at the title. At the age of 37, Walcott became the oldest boxer to win the World Heavyweight Championship, a record that would stand until George Foreman regained the title at age 45 in 1994.
