James George Hunter (August 19, 1918 – May 28, 1996), known professionally as Jimmy Rowles (sometimes spelled Jimmie Rowles), was an American jazz pianist, vocalist, and composer. As a bandleader and accompanist, he explored multiple styles including swing and cool jazz.

Father of jazz trumpet/fluegelhorn player/vocalist Stacy Rowles and rock guitarist Gary Rowles. Best known as an accompanist. He also released a number of albums under his own name, and explored various idioms including swing and cool jazz. Inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 2001.
