30 de may. de 2023 · Johann Strauss II (1825-1899), también llamado Strauss el joven, fue un compositor austriaco más conocido por sus valses, como por ejemplo El Danubio azul. Fue famoso durante su vida por toda Europa y Estados Unidos y fue conocido como el Rey del vals, pero también escribió muchas polkas, marchas, cuadrillas y operetas como Die Fledermaus y Der Zigeunerbaron .
Sadly, Strauss was too ill to attend – he was already suffering from the bronchial ailment that would eventually kill him. However, the terminally ill Brahms struggled along to see it; three weeks later he was dead, while Strauss survived another two years. Johann’s youngest brother, Josef, had died years before in 1870 at the age of only 43.
