Sir John Joseph Caldwell Abbott PC QC KCMG (March 12, 1821 – October 30, 1893) was a Canadian lawyer and politician who served as the third prime minister of Canada from 1891 to 1892. He held office as the leader of the Conservative Party .
8 de mar. de 2024 · Sir John Abbott (born March 12, 1821, St. Andrews, Lower Canada [now St.-André-Est, Quebec, Canada]—died Oct. 30, 1893, Montreal) was a lawyer, statesman, and prime minister of Canada from 1891 to 1892. Educated at McGill University, Montreal, Abbott became a lawyer in 1847 and was made queen’s counsel in 1862.
23 de may. de 2007 · Abbott was a leading authority on commercial law, a strong advocate of English Quebec’s business elite and an influential figure in many corporate and social organizations. He was the first Canadian-born prime minister, as well as the first to hold the position from the Senate rather than the House of Commons.
