John Birt, baron Birt, (født 10. desember 1944) var generaldirektør i BBC fra 1992 til 2000. Før han ble generaldirektør var han han stedfortreder for generaldirektøren fra 1987 til 1992. Som generaldirektør innførte han blant annet et omstridt «internt marked» i BBC, som innebar at enhetene måtte kjøpe tjenester av hverandre og til dels begynte å konkurrere mot hverandre.
