    John Bolling Jr. (1700–1757), of the Colony of Virginia, a Pocahontas descendant, was county-lieutenant of Chesterfield, commander of the militia, justice of the peace, and for thirty years member of the House of Burgesses. John's first wife Elizabeth Lewis died young. His subsequent marriage to second wife Elizabeth Blair produced issue, including a son John Bolling who married Mary Jefferson, sister of United States President Thomas Jefferson.

    John Bolling Jr. was born 20 Jan 1700 to John and Mary (Kenton) Bolling, a prosperous Virginia planter family, at their home Cobbs Plantation(near current Petersburg, VA). Through his father's line he was a great-great-grandchild of Pocahontas and John Rolfe.
