John Charles Olmsted (September 14, 1852 – February 24, 1920) was an American landscape architect. The nephew and adopted son of Frederick Law Olmsted, he worked with his father and his younger brother, Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., in their father's firm.

For over 40 years, John Charles Olmsted was a respected leader in the landscape and early planning professions, leaving a profound mark on the land, often unrecognized today. The firm’s clientele grew to more than 3,500 commissions by the time of his death, many of which he had originated.

John Charles Olmsted gained additional topographical and geologic experience in western landscapes, participating in summer expedition led by Clarence King in Utah and Nevada along the 40th Parallel. He did so again in the summer of 1871.
