  1. John George I of Anhalt-Dessau (9 May 1567 – 24 May 1618) was a German prince of the House of Ascania. From 1586 to 1603 he ruled the unified principality of Anhalt jointly with his brothers. After the partition of the principality in 1603, he ruled the principality of Anhalt-Dessau from 1603 to 1618.

  7. He was the son of Prince Johann Casimir and Princess Agnes of Hesse- Kassel. He married in 1659 to Henriette Catherine, a daughter of Prince Frederick Henry of Orange, and thus became a brother of the Elector Frederick William of Brandenburg. After his father's death (15 July 1660), he took over the government in Anhalt- Dessau.
