John Harper Trumbull (March 4, 1873 – May 21, 1961) was an American politician who served as the 70th Governor of Connecticut . Early life. Trumbull was born in Ashford, Connecticut son of Hugh Homer Trumbull (1847–1922) and Mary Ann (Harper) Trumbull (1849–1923).

John Trumbull (June 6, 1756 – November 10, 1843) was an American painter and military officer best known for his historical paintings of the American Revolutionary War, of which he was a veteran. He has been called the "Painter of the Revolution". [1]
Born into a distinguished Connecticut family, John Trumbull was a graduate of Harvard who served the young nation as an officer in the Continental Army and later as a diplomat. He was also one of America's most versatile and accomplished artists.
