John Herschel (1792–1871) John Frederick William Herschel was born on March 7, 1792 in Slough, England, the only offspring of the already famous astronomer William Herschel. Raised by his father and aunt Caroline (also an astronomer), he studied mathematics at St John's College in Cambridge, from which he graduated in 1816.

John Herschel (1792-1871) est né à Slough, à proximité de Windsor. Il est le fils unique de l’astronome William Herschel et de Mary Pitt, fille d’un riche commerçant. Ses parents ont respectivement cinquante cinq et quarante deux ans lorsqu’il vient au monde. Son enfance baigne dans la musique, les sciences et la religion.
Al hablar de John Herschel debemos tener en cuenta que hablamos de un gran matemático, astrónomo o químico entre otros. No en vano su padre fue el descubridor de Urano. Así, tras muchos años de investigaciones y descubrimientos fue nombrado Sir. Pero volvamos a la fotografía, un campo donde también destacó de sobremanera.

[ 3][ 4] Herschel originou o uso do sistema julianos na astronomia.
