John McNally (born 30 August 1941) is an English guitarist. He was a member of The Searchers , a band he formed in 1959, who were a big part of the Mersey sound in the early 1960s. He was the longest serving member of the group, touring in the band from 1957, until their retirement in 2019, as well as their 2023 farewell tour .

Founded as a skiffle group in Liverpool in 1959 by John McNally and Mike Pender, the band took their name from the 1956 John Ford western film The Searchers. [3] The band grew out of an earlier skiffle group formed by McNally in 1957, with his friends Brian Dolan (guitar) and Tony West (bass).
John McNally and the Searchers are still going strong today and hold a significant fanbase worldwide. The band members are: John McNally - original member and founder, 6string/12 string guitarist and vocals. Frank Allen - bass guitarist, vocals and front man. Spencer James - guitar synth and lead vocals.
