In the early morning of April 19, 1775, Captain John Parker and the Lexington militia were assembled on the Lexington Green as the British Regular column advanced along Battle Road. Historians believe that the Lexington militia was following the order to disband when the British Regulars opened fire on them, killing ten men and wounding eight.
