  1. John Seymour, 4th Duke of Somerset and 3rd Marquess of Hertford (before 1646 – 29 April 1675) was an English peer and MP. Life. He was the only surviving son of William Seymour, 2nd Duke of Somerset, and Lady Frances Devereux.

  2. Seymour’s prospects after the Restoration were conditioned by the death of his father, now newly restored to the Somerset dukedom, in October 1660. The dukedom then went to Seymour’s nephew, William Seymour, 3rd duke of Somerset, who came under the guardianship of his mother, Lady Mary (d.1715).
