John Vanbrugh (Londen, 24 januari 1664 - aldaar, 26 maart 1726) was een Engelse architect en toneelschrijver. Samen met William Congreve , George Etherege , George Farquhar en William Wycherley wordt hij gerekend tot Grote Vijf van het komische toneel van de Restauratie .

John Vanbrugh, né le 24 janvier 1664 et mort le 26 mars 1726, est un architecte et dramaturge britannique. On lui doit notamment l'édification de palais de Blenheim et du château Howard . Il rédige également deux comédies engagées et argumentées : La Rechute ou la Vertu en danger ( The Relapse ) en 1696 et L'Épouse outragée ( The Provoked Wife ) en 1697 .

John Vanbrugh. Dramaturgo británico que fue además uno de los grandes arquitectos del barroco en su país. Nació en Londres, se educó en Cheshire y al ser apresado como militar por los franceses, comenzó a escribir. Sus textos son excelentes ejemplos de la comedia de la restauración, La reincidencia (1696) y La mujer enojada (1697).
