Field Marshal Sir John Stanier GCB MBE. John Wilfred Stanier joined the 7th Hussars after the war, in 1946, while they were still in Italy. He served with them in Germany and Hong Kong. He would have commanded the 7th but the amalgamation in 1958 prevented it.
