8 de may. de 2024 · HOUSE OF CARMELITE FRIARS, SHOREHAM. The only establishment of Carmelite friars in Sussex was the house of the Blessed Virgin founded at Shoreham by Sir John de Mowbray (fn. 1) in 1316.

Hace 3 días · In the reign of King John William de Mowbray built a chapel of St. Nicholas in Thirsk. It was evidently a building separate from the church, for in 1267–8 Hugh de Burton fled there when accused of horse-stealing and committed suicide within its walls.
