Wrote "The Shadow of Your Smile" and theme for "M*A*S*H". Johnny Mandel, the five-time Grammy recipient and Oscar and Emmy Award winner was a composer, arranger, instrumentalist and record producer living a life totally steeped in musical achievement.
Music Department: M*A*S*H. Inducted into the ASCAP Jazz Wall of Fame in 2009 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame a year later, Johnny Mandel is perhaps best known as the composer of the iconic M*A*S*H (1972) theme song, "Suicide is Painless". Born and raised in Manhattan, he was the son of a garment manufacturer and an opera singer.
