Joseph Noel Paton (13 de diciembre de 1821 - 26 de diciembre de 1901) fue un pintor escocés, nacido en el Wooer´s Alley, Dunfermline, Fife. Vida. Nacido en una familia de tejedores, Joseph continuó el trabajo de la familia por poco tiempo. Se interesó rápidamente por el arte y estudió brevemente en la Real Academia, Londres en 1843.
Sir Joseph Noel Paton FRSA (13 December 1821 – 26 December 1901) was a Scottish artist, illustrator and sculptor. He was also a poet and had an interest in, and knowledge of, Scottish folklore and Celtic legends.

Among his most famous pictures are The Pursuit of Pleasure (1855), Mors Janua Vitae (1866), Oskold and the Ell-maids (1874), and In Die Malo (1882). Sir Noel Paton also produced a certain amount of sculpture, more notable for design than for searching execution.

sir Joseph Noel Paton. Desarrollo. Desde muy pequeño fue estimulado a dibujar y pintar por su familia. A los 22 años se trasladó a Londres para ingresar en la Royal Academy, acudiendo a diario a dibujar al British Museum . Presentó varias obras al concurso de Westmisnter de los años 1845 y 1847, consiguiendo sendos premios.
