  6. Joseph Cherniavsky was born in 1894 in Lubni (Ukraine) into a family of klezmorim. He studied cello in the St. Petersburg Conservatory, and, at that time, joined the Zimro Jewish Chamber Orchestra. In 1918 he came with that group to the U.S. He composed and conducted for theaters of Maurice Schwartz, Boris Thomashefsky, Ludwig Satz and others.
