Using photos, letters, and secondary sources, students will attempt to understand the life and legacy of Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. and connect his story to some of the larger historical events of the twentieth century.
Tragically, he lost his life flying a dangerous volunteer mission in 1944. Joseph Kennedy Sr. had been grooming both of his sons for political office. However, the weightiest of expectations often rested with Joe Jr. With Joe Jr.'s death, John likely felt a sense of obligation to carry on his family's dream.
