South Ukrainian national pedagogical university named after K. D. Ushynsky: history and modernity The University started as a Pedagogical Institute which was established pursuant to the Decree of the Emperor Oleksandr the First in Odesa on May, 2, 1817, as a separate structural unit at the Rishelievskyi lyceum.
According to the national ranking of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the university has been among 34 leading pedagogical, humanitarian and sporting universities of Ukraine for more than 10 years.
