Our 2024 GRADUATES. The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre is a full-time conservatory offering post-secondary training in Dramatic Arts Acting. As the home of the Meisner Technique we prepare our students for the professional demands of working in all areas of theatre, film, and television.
The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre is a professional conservatory for actors in New York City. First operational from 1915 to 1927, the school re-opened in 1928 and has been active ever since. It is the birthplace of the Meisner technique of acting, named for American actor and acting teacher Sanford Meisner.

Allison entered college in the fall of 1978 at Kenyon College in Gambier Ohio; following her graduation, she attended famed acting school The Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City until 1984.
