Es famoso por el diseño en suspensión de su techo, similar a la estructura de los puentes colgantes.

Architect Kenzō Tange submitted proposals for Hiroshima and Maebashi. In 1949, Tange's winning competition entry to design the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum gave him international acclaim.
