Two years after Pat Garrett, he brought some of the lessons he’d learned from Peckinpah to direct his own feature, A Boy and His Dog (1975) a bleak post-apocalyptic yarn. It’s not a particularly good movie but, as I recall, it shared Peckinpah’s eye for detail.
