hace 3 días · Wellesley rose to prominence as a general during the Peninsular campaign of the Napoleonic Wars, and was promoted to the rank of field marshal after leading the allied forces to victory against the French Empire at the Battle of Vitoria in 1813. Following Napoleon's exile in 1814, he served as the ambassador to France and was granted a dukedom.

21/11/2022 · Wellesley became Britain’s prime minister in 1828 and served through to 1830. His time in power was marked by the Roman Catholic Emancipation, during which he was threatened to resign if King George IV didn’t give Royal Assent. He, again, took the position for a few weeks in 1834 following the Tories regaining power.
