  7. Lancelot 'Capability' Brown worked for Viscount Cobham as head gardener at Stowe from 1741 to 1751. His work there and the contacts he made launched his career. Early in his career Capability Brown created the magnificent Grecian Valley at Stowe, part of Viscount Cobham’s ambitious landscape of classical buildings, rolling lawns and beautiful lakes.
