George Lawrence "Larry" James (November 6, 1947 – November 6, 2008) was an American track athlete. At the 1968 Olympics he won a gold medal in the 4 × 400 m relay and a silver in the individual 400 m.

Although he was beaten at the Final Trials and the Olympics by Lee Evans, his time of 43.97 at Mexico City ranked as the second-fastest 400m of all time through the mid-80s.
