Laura Branigan, a Grammy-nominated pop singer best known for her 1982 platinum hit “Gloria,” has died. She was 47. Branigan died Thursday in her sleep at her home, said her manager, John Bowers.
Laura's Biography. Laura Branigan, singer and songwriter, was born in the upstate New York town of Brewster. After high school, Laura moved to Manhattan and attended The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. In the late 70’s, she toured Europe as a backing vocalist for Leonard Cohen.
