Lawrence Parsons, 2nd Earl of Rosse (21 May 1758 – 24 February 1841), known as Sir Lawrence Parsons, Bt, from 1791 to 1807, was an Irish peer. Biography. Birr Castle, County Offaly. Parsons was the son of Sir William Parsons, 4th Baronet and Mary Clere.

Parsons, Sir Lawrence (1758–1841), 2nd earl of Rosse , politician, was born 21 May 1758 at Birr Castle, King's Co. (Offaly), eldest son of Sir William Parsons (1732–91), 4th baronet and MP for King's Co. (1757–91), and Mary Parsons (née Clere).

A Compendium of Irish Biography. 1878. Parsons, Sir Lawrence, 2nd Earl of Rosse, was born 21st May 1758. [His ancestor, Sir William Parsons, settled in Ireland in Elizabeth's reign, was Commissioner of Plantations, and obtained large grants of land from the Crown.

Of particular interest to us here is Sir Lawrence Parsons, 2nd Earl of Rosse (1758-1841). Sir Lawrence pursued many interests throughout his lifetime . He was a MP for Trinity College from 1782-1790 and for Kings County from 1891-1807. He was a distinguished parliamentarian and opposed the 1801 Act of Union.
He was made one of the Lords of the Treasury in 1805, and succeeded his half-brother as 2nd Earl of Rosse in 1807. In 1809 he was elected as a Representative Peer for Ireland and was appointed as Irish Postmaster-General.
